Q: Why choose Iota Beta Chi?

A: Iota Beta Chi provides an excellent environment to hone leadership skills, personal goal development, and time management planning through being an active member of the sorority. While we like to have a variety of social activities, we also enjoy participating and creating a variety of philanthropic events. We actively donate our time and effort through food drives for local food banks, various events for women's shelters and empowerment, and much more!

Q: Why should I join?

A: It is an amazing way to meet new people, and have an opportunity to try new things. Sisters come from a variety of backgrounds and have very different interests. There are fun events such as parties, girls nights and dances, as well as the opportunity to give back to the community. It is also a great support system academically, and is also a great way to learn useful skills and gain confidence in yourself.

Q: How do I get involved?

A: We have a two week period every semester (September and January) known as Recruitment where we are welcoming interest from potential new members. We have events throughout these two weeks for girls to meet us and get a taste of sorority life, to decide if it is for them. In order to join, one must be attending a post secondary institution and must attend at least three events during the two week period. Contact a chapter near you to find out how you can join.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you haze?

A: We do not believe in hazing and have strict guidelines to follow during recruitment, the Entrance program and sisterhood. If at any point you felt uncomfortable with anything, it would be stopped immediately.

Q: Will my schooling suffer?

A: School comes first. We do have minimum GPA requirements, and we encourage anyone who is struggling to take the time they need to concentrate on school. We do also have Scholastic Chairs who can help you get the assistance you need for your academic career.

Q: Is there any obligation to join if I come to an event?

A: Not at all. We encourage everyone to come out and see. Even if you don’t think sorority life is for you, we love to have people come out to events and have fun just the same. Even if you do pledge, you are always able to defer to another semester if you find you don’t have enough time, or if it is not for you.

Q: Is there an age limit?

A: Not at all! As long as you are in university, we are happy to have you! We have had mature students join before, as well as people in every year of their university education. So whether it is your first or last year, everyone is welcome to come out.
